A quick question about Metivision...
I am wondering if the Metivision has to be connected to the internet at all times to run, or if the internet connection is optional.
We are building a second mobile simulation unit and want to get a better A/V setup than the jury-rigged system we have in the first one and I think that Metivision would work. However, since it is being mounted in an ambulance and on the road, we wouldn't have continuous internet connection (unless we went wireless). Can we still save the videos and information?
Thanks

Connection to the Internet is optional during recording of a simulation. The connection allows updates of the METI Vision system using METI's update server. Additionally the connection allows access to the METI Vision box from compatible browsers despite their location on the network.
The LAN port used for the Internet connection can also be used for a small network or connected to a single machine to provide a user interface to that machine without being connected to the Internet.
Additionally the METI Vision system can be configured to begin recording automatically as soon as a patient is started on the simulator it is connected to. In this configuration no additional computers are needed to record (no connections to the LAN port). Though you'll still need to connect one at a later point in time to review the recordings.

Thanks, that is what I was hoping to hear!

I am correct in assuming, then, that MetiVision does not have to be connected to the simulation mannikin itself provided it interfaces with the wireless network system in place within our facility?

Well now that depends on what you're trying to accomplish. If METI Vision is not connected to a simulator it will be impossible to record the physiology of a session....being as that's generated by the Simulator's workstation.
Roughly speaking there are 3 networks involved with the METI Vision box. One is used to connect the cameras. Then second is used to connect the simulator. The third is used to connect web browsers to view the session currently "in-play" or previously recorded. This third network is the one that is typically connected to a larger scale network...such as the one at your facility. Most configurations are pretty straightforward however if you have any questions about how your specific requirements please contact your salesperson.

Thanks for the feedback. I have another question at this time...Our IT department intends to link MetiVision to two CPUs (We have two manikins, one in each of two rooms). They plan to use those CPUs to display monitor physiology for the students and provide capability for the instructor to stop a scenario and use an 'instant replay' approach. They maintain that I will be able to control the cameras with the MAC I use to run my scenario. My reading of the manual is that there should be a separate CPU to control the cameras and link to METIVision. So, I guess my question is: does MetiVision require an additional CPU to run the cameras, or is that truly a function that can be delegated to the Mac running the scenario? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated as I do not wish to void our warranty or service agreement by using the Mac for anything other than that which was intended.
I appreciate your assistance.

METI currently does not support using the instructor's workstation as a user interface for METI Vision. Our concern is complicating the network architecture and application load affecting the real-time performance of the models.
However, METI Vision was designed to work via use of a standard web browser. This should allow any other computers already available to connect and operate as a user interface. It should not be necessary to order a separate computer specifically for METI Vision...though we do offer a couple of sweet machines (one PC, one Mac) that already setup for METI Vision :)

Sorry the reply has taken so long...I've been on vacation until today. Typically when there is a problem with the waveform display it's caused by a mismatch on the version of Flash (from Adobe) used by the browser. We've tested that the software works with version 9 and we are currently testing the software with version 10.
I would check and make sure that you have the appropriate flash version, and if you have problems finding that or you have the appropriate version please give our customer support a call. I've included the contact information.
