Does anyone have measurements on the size and cooling requirements for the air compressor provided with the ECS simulator? Will be obtaining 2 of them, and will be looking to enclose this compressor for noise reduction.
Thanks....

I would love to find that out as well and see what others have done to reduce that sound...

METI currently offers two compressor options with the simulators, one compressor designed for outdoor use and one designed for indoor use. The indoor-use compressor is quite quiet and probably doesn't require the noise baffling. Unfortunately, METI engineering does not have the cooling requirements for enclosing either of these systems and can't recommend enclosures.
Given that, METI sales or customer support should be able to confirm which compressor is being delivered and the physical dimensions of the selected compressor.

I have used the 'quiet' indoor compressor with the ECS in a 20x20 room and have noted that after the first two 'cycles' the students stop jumping and do tend to ignore it. I prefer not to have the sound for continuity and tried a sound barricade (I didn't want it to over heat so I put it against a wall with a top and front enclosure made of plywood with 3 inch foam) and that didn't do much.
I finally solved the problem by strategic positioning. I put it in the hallway outside of each of the 8 classrooms I use and with a little tape, an extension cord, and the rather long air tubing have not had a problem with getting it to reach to the PCU. If the extension cord has to cross the hallway, I just tape it down like they do with AV cords in hotels. The fire inspectors were there one day while I was using this method and did not have anything negative to say about it.
Okay, not much of a solution but hey, you wanted to know how others were dealing with the noise...

hi! slightly off topic but i'm just wondering. have you guys had moisture problem with your compressors? i'm having one with mine. some days the hose will probably have around 15-20ml of water some days more. anyone had thais same problem? thanks

Are you venting your compressor after each use? My understanding is that these compressors collect a lot of moisture out of the air, and the tanks inside of them will rust out quickly. There is a petcock on the bottom that you can "vent" the remaining air out of the tank (after shutting it off, obviously) and it will also drain out quite a bit of water.

i did vent the compressor today before using it. its been 4 hours and running but no water still. i'll be venting it after use this afternoon. thanks for the tip.
