What do I need to use a ventilator with ECS? Do I need some connector piece from the vent to the black box? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

No additional connector is needed from the vent to the black box. When putting the mannequin on a vent, the PEEP parameter in the HPS software needs to be set to match the PEEP on the ventilator to get a true clinical response. This is found under the Respiratory Tab, Airway sub heading.

Chad, the Sim Tech at the ACCP in Chicago spoke of placing about 8 medium rubber bands around the lungs to get the necessary resistance for a vent. You might contact him through Viva Siddall [vsiddall@chestnet.org], and get more info.
