What specificially are you looking for? Perhaps I can find a way to make it...

Othewise www.moulage.com is one site that offers moulage assistance and products. www.sickkitchen.com is another. Neither of these sites offer 'free' recipies and both are selling their own products (moulage.com sells product to make the moulage but not instructions--they sell classes to make specific items; sickkitchen offers sale of a book with recipes and links to buy much of the same product as found on moulage.com)

Let me know what you're looking for and I'll try to find a solution.

have you tried googling "SFX" or special effects in films. There are sites, however the difficult part is stopping the food dyes getting onto stans skin. Some people use a barrier cream such as parafin wax. For flat areas spare skins or acetate sheets can be used. these can have the special effect built onto it and the whole thing placed onto the desired area using morticians or nose putty to blend the edges.

I hope this helps. just start collecting small supplies of grit, dust and dried out chicken bones to make your own kit. Ready made commercial kits are expensive and usually contain a lot of material which you wont use.

I am looking on information on moulaging the burns scenario. Any suggestions on how to fake burns? Where can some of the Hollywood style special effects be found when you are nowhere near Hollywood (other than online shops)?

Does anyone have measurements on the size and cooling requirements for the air compressor provided with the ECS simulator? Will be obtaining 2 of them, and will be looking to enclose this compressor for noise reduction.

These are techniques that I have used:

I have some low cost wound effects that you can do that look like burns and blisters.

Ingredients needed

Petroleum Jelly
Tissue Paper
Carmel coloring theater makeup optional this is expensive but last forever
Charcoal pencil or piece of charcoal
Glue gun with glue sticks
Paint acrylic works best
Double stick tape (or use reg tape just fold over)
Blush powder form with blush brush
old clothes
torch or lighter
Fake Blood
Lubricant packets
Plastic water bottle
Scissors




How to make a blister



Dab petroleum jelly on area take tissue box pull 1 sheet and split it in half to make it thinner it usually has two sheets together.

Now cut then thin sheet to match dab on area and lay on top of petroleum jelly dab. That is a basic blister now add blush to show irritation add a touch of charcoal and fake blood.



Make a fake wound



Use glue gun and make flat as possible dabs you can be creative as it cools touch and make surface rough and imperfect.

Now paint with black to fill holes then add with light stroke a flesh color then you can add reddish color and semi-mix. Let dry you have a simple wound to reuse.

Tape to area and add blood if fresh wound or leave as is for no mess.



Make props



Old clothes can be burned to add a real effect.

Cut up water bottle to make pieces that look like broken glass and add pieces to glue before it cools to simulate glass embedded in the wound.

Hello David! Been a while. I like to just play. I go through the grocery store and drool at the possiblities...not for food, but what I can do with it.

If I knew what you were thinking to make, I might be able to give you a few recipes/ideas.

There is also a book recently published by a contemporary of ours...I wil have to get back to you on the name though...I think it sold for around $40 or $50. I do not have a copy so cannot speak for the contents but the gal who wrote it is very good at moulage and worked with METi and 'other' simulators.

Also, for reusable moulage, I reccomend Image Perspectives. The use a lot of Gel Effects and makeup -- mostly ben nye...which is easily removed using the GooGone Gel Spray! They provide both classes and supplies: moulage.net
