How do I change the blood pressure in ISTAN....we are doing a scenario in which the instructor wants the blood pressure to change from what is programed in the scenario. I tried using Contractility Factor but could not get it to where the instructor wants it. Any suggestions??/

There are five parameters that are primarily used to control blood pressure.
1) Increasing Resistance Factor: Systemic Vascular increases blood pressure as a whole.
2) Increasing Venous Capacity: decreases the blood pressure.
3) Increasing Elastance: Extrathoracic Arteries increases the pulse pressure and increases the blood pressure. This parameter should be used in conjunction with Elastance:Intrathoracic Arteries
4) Increasing Elastance:Intrathoracic Arteries increases the pulse pressure and increases the blood pressure. This parameter should be used in conjunction with Elastance: Extrathoracic Arteries.
5) Removing either blood or plasma through the use of the Fluid Loss Volume (Blood or Plasma) will decrease the blood pressure.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

Dr Livingstone (I presume),

does your instructor want your patient to start with a different blood pressure than iStan? It's possible to create hypertensive and hypotensive patients from existing patients. I've got the paper instructions on how to achieve this somewhere on my desk.
If it would be helpful to know how, get in touch

If it's to get to different blood pressures during a scenario, then Wendy has hit the nail on the head
