We'd like to take some video clips from our sim sessions recorded on the METIVision server and export them to another medium for review and presentations etc. Lugging the METIVision server and a router around for this purpose is a little tedious.

Could anyone describe this process, if possible? MPEG-2 or 4, wmv formats on a usb drive would be the best.

Thanks

You can directly export the video from metivision into MP4. This only exports the camera feed, not the waveforms/trend chart.

If you go into one of your pre-recorded sessions, locate your video feed window and click on the 1st of the 5 buttons together in the top right of the window, you should get a dialogue box asking where you want to save it. I *think* you have to be an admin to do this.

Depending on the resolution and quality of your video feed, you will end up with a (huge) mp4 file

I have had some success with Adobe Premier for further editing and post processing.

For re-encoding into another video format, I suggest SUPER, mainly because it is free and I am a cheapskate

The other windows are flash video. There should be some sort of open source horror out there in internetland that will allow you to extract the flash video from the metivision server, I haven't looked as I have an otherwise rich and fulfilling life to lead!

Good luck, feel free to contact me
