Yes, the iStan is available for purchase, although shipping is not expected to take place until the 4th quarter. Did you need someone to get back with you with pricing or a quote?

Currently the iStan is attending various conferences for demo's. We should have a demo unit available for sales shortly. If you would like me to come bring one for a demo, let me know. Contact me directly for delivery information. 941-504-5455 or ddennis@meti.com.

Thanks for the offer of a quote, but we purchased an iStan already and are waiting for it to be delivered.

What I really wanted to know is has anyone received theirs yet?

Some iStan units are being delivered in December. It may be best to check with your sales manager to find out where your order is in the delivery process. I am unable to tell where you are from from your membership name. Happy New Year!

Hello all,

I have my Istan. Recieved it in December. Its number 28.
I have taken it on the road and have used it in sessions quite a few times - including use of the trauma features.

It exceeded my expectations. :)

Is anyone using Stan in an anesthesia curriculum?
Also, is anyone taking him "on the road: for real time EMS or flight scenarios?
:)

I have taken my Istan on the road however it was not used in Aviation or EMS trauma.

We used it for some critical airway management. We did incorporate an "impaled object" with some artifical blood but nothing that used the Istan trauma features"

I can tell you compared to toting an ECS around the Istan is much better for obvious reasons.

Does anyone have a solution or ideas to offset the lack of continous EtCO2 (waveform)?

Thanks

BJ.
The Istan's ETCO2 can be measured with a disposable ETCO2 detector. It was not really designed to output an accurate waveform for display on a capnograph.

Skip,
I found that out a bit after the fact. It really would be a beneficial add-on. Whether computer generated or actual CO2 production, it would allow learners to utilize a method included in the standard of care (anesthesia) in their assessment of iStan during scenarios.

Has anyone tried to moulage the ISTAN? We have 2 ISTANs and 3 ECS units. We have extensively moulaged the ECS units but the ISTANs do not take the wax. They do not take the patches for moulage either. Has anyone successfully added raised wounds, subdural hemotomas or raised scars? If so, how did you do it?

Can anyone tell me how I can have air escape from the chest during a pneumothorax. I have used the trauma needle decompression tab (with intrapleural volume up to 500mls but it has no effect).

You must set the needle decompression to 'ENABLE' to have the air release occur. If you do activate this parameter, the air will not be released and the plueral volume will not change
